Mauro Bifani was born in Perugia. After being employed by a multinational technology corporation, in his retirement he has dedicated himself to his numerous and diverse interests. He is active in the field of voluntary work, especially with those Associations involved with social and environmental issues. He is the co-founder of the cultural Association Astrofili Paolo Maffei Perugia. He has taken up photography again, with a special emphasis on landscapes and panoramas, resulting in an exhibition of his work in 2011 in the Rocca Paolina Exhibition Center in Perugia, and in 2012 in Corciano. He has collaborated with the Perugia Section of Club Alpino Italiano and the Monti del Tezio Cultural Association in the design of a tour guide with itineraries around the city. He has collaborated with Prof. Paolo Latini at the books Radiologia in Umbria and I Fogliardi nella vita culturale e patriottica dell'ottocento. He has published Il Tezio testimone di Guerra, in which he brings to light a Second World War mission, and has managed to contact some descendants of the military personnel involved. In 2012, he has published with Prof. Paolo Latini I papi umbri e marchigiani: storie e note storiche. In 2015, together with Manlio Suvieri, he has published Le antiche ore, Meridiane nei Comuni dell'Umbria, two volumes that are the result of complex research, census, and cataloging of ancient sundials.
