Detective Trace Barrington enjoys his quiet life as a detective in the small country town of Broken where he grew up. Cassie Wester is Oscar's sister. She's taken care of him most of her life. Now he's gone missing after a nasty argument with their stepfather and no one knows where he is. Oscar has run away before, but not for this long and never overnight. He's terrified of the dark.
Now Trace is responsible for finding him. As each day passes, the likelihood of finding the young boy alive decreases.
