Set against the southern African canvas of war and upheaval, On the Bridge of Goodbye tells the story of the famous San (Bushman) soldiers who fought first for the Portuguese in Angola, and then for South Africa from bases in northern Namibia. When South Africa withdrew from Namibia, many of these soldiers and their dependants came to South Africa. David Robbins explores the devastating impact of this displacement, and follows a group of former soldiers on a journey into their respective pasts.
