Love Up Yuh Self, Likkle One encourages children to practice self-love. Self-love is the best love. Through self-love, they can achieve anything, be their best selves and spread that light to others. Through self-love, we make the world a better place. Love Up Yuh Self, Likkle One is written in poetic form using a mix of English, Patois (Patwa) and Caribbean dialect, with vibrant and fun images reminiscent of the sweet West Indies. The poetry is inspired by late Jamaican poet and storyteller Louise Bennett-Coverley, known and beloved as "Miss Lou", whose work has paved the way for literature that celebrates and embraces Caribbean culture and dialects.
