Steven Palmer works for a niche consultancy specialising in working in places others avoid. A Russian oligarch interested in working with a high-tech British manufacturer leads Palmer to Siberia and then a chance encounter in a Moscow nightclub. Palmer's unexpected friendship with the Russian billionaire drags him into a deeper conspiracy.

Spending more and more time away from home than at home, Palmer is thrust into a world far more threatening than the obscure places he helps his clients navigate.
