The title of this book, The Train is Coming is based upon a 1965 single by the Impressions. The line "people get ready there is a train a coming" evokes the journey of Larry C. Rogers during the 70's, 80's, and 90's, traveling by subway throughout the New York City area. This poetry collection - inspired by the poet Langston Hughes - captures snapshots of urban life from subway platforms to the streets.
