Adult me: Businessperson, mom, Omi (grandmother), sister, stepmom, wife (that's alphabetical, not in order of importance). Since kid-hood: Always certain that I wanted to be a writer. The power of words and painting pictures with them is as important as air (well, nearly). As a writer, I have tons of ideas and works in progress, including everything from non-fiction to novelty and childrens books, full length novels to flash fiction. I am finally doing a better job of prioritizing my time for writing and loving it.My family and I have danced the delicate dance unique to family businesses, but through decades, always found a way, with love and respect, to make it work. The best principles and lessons from business and running an organization also apply to life, family and relationships. The basics are pretty much the same. Use your powers to impact those around you for good. Always try to do the next right thing. Stay curious, open-minded, enthusiastic and never stop learning, especially from those around you. People all along my journey have amazed and taught me. There is vast hidden 'talent treasure' and compelling story in just about everyone. Some accomplishments I am proud of and there are failures that have left me wishing for a do-over. But in it all, I have found invaluable lessons, not the least of which is- dust yourself off and JUST DON'T QUIT. We are never done, and each of us is always a work in progress. In my spare time I tend to think about all of the things I should be doing. Other than that, I enjoy reading, staying pretty fit (love hot yoga), and the best of all - my husband and I agree- is time with the grandkids who bring everyone closer.
