Abimbola Salami was born in the sticky warmth of Lagos, Nigeria and raised in the sausage cold of Surrey, UK. In 2021, she married a sausage, and now goes by the surname of Salami. Presently, she lives with that sausage and her son, not far from her childhood home - partly so she can drop in and annoy her parents whenever she wants, but mostly so her son can grow up with the joy of being raised by them. They are the ABSOLUTE BEST by the way. By day, she works in Human Resources telling adults what to do and making the workplace somewhat bearable, and by night, if she can fight sleep, she writes. Other than family, friends, and food, Abimbola also loves to travel, her favourite place being Colombia where she lived for a year teaching English in Palmira. In 2021, she won the Jericho Prize for a chapter book about an embarrassing Nigerian aunty, and in 2022 became a mentee with the prestigious Madeline Milburn literary agency. Abimbola absolutely loves to laugh and write stories that are packed with mischief and poke fun at the eccentricities of the Nigerian family. 'Simi Says . . . That New Girl is a Monster' is her middle-grade fiction debut. |
