The citizens of the colony of Vogel 6 feel abandoned by the Department of Colonization. Vogel 6 is one of 3 colonies Emperor Salongo Strong the 14th of the Kingdom of Vogel authorized in the last 6 months of his reign. It is the colony where he will establish his home after he must vacate the throne. His new home is under the control of a corrupt board of directors who rule the first established city on the planet, Morgan City, in a dictatorial manner. Thousands steal away looking for a better existence - until the board of directors erect barriers and launch armed patrols to stop the exodus. One breakaway group establishes Freedom and achieves great success. The three other breakaway groups establish cities with conditions that almost mirror those in Morgan City. The board of directors attempts to capture the thriving city of Freedom but they are unsuccessful. Freedom sends a delegation to the Department of Colonization on Vogel 1 to beg their intervention with the corrupt board of directors. Meanwhile rich enemies of the ex-emperor want him dead - and they are willing to terminate the other 80 thousand colonists of Vogel 6 as they go after him. Along with the other problems of the colonists there is a predatory species living underground and they have found the colonists to be a food source - until the colonist discover their existence. Despite the threats and the totalitarian rule of the board of directors, the colonists declare WE WILL SURVIVE!
