Roy Montz is an American author and poet whose writing is rooted in storytelling, faith, family, and the rich cultural heritage of the American South. A retired businessman, Roy discovered his passion for writing later in life and quickly developed a distinctive voice that blends lyrical poetry with meaningful life lessons for readers of all ages.He is the author of four published books spanning children's literature and historical memoir. His debut children's book, Legend of Wan Hu: The World's First Astronaut - Follow Your Dreams, was inspired by an ancient legend and written to encourage children to believe in their dreams while learning the values of perseverance, balance, and wisdom. The book reflects Roy's love for poetry, where he treats each poem like a puzzle-carefully assembling rhyme, rhythm, and meter to create engaging and memorable stories.Roy continued this tradition with Farmer Dell and Jezebel, a poetic children's book that teaches patience and self-control through the story of a hardworking farmer and his stubborn mule. His third children's book, Macabee Brothers: Love Conquers All, explores the importance of family, forgiveness, and unity, telling the heartfelt story of two brothers whose bond is tested but ultimately restored through love.In addition to children's poetry, Roy expanded his storytelling into personal history with The Crossing: A True Story of Survival, Mystery, and Grace on the Mississippi. Set in 1950s Louisiana, this powerful memoir recounts a near-fatal childhood experience on the Mississippi River-a story passed down from father to son and told with honesty, mystery, and Southern soul. The book reflects Roy's deep connection to the river and the formative experiences of his youth near New Orleans.Much of Roy's writing is inspired by his own life growing up along the Mississippi River, as well as his time sharing poems with children during "Kids Time" at his church in central Mississippi.
