This concept grew out of the authors most popular Quilt Guild Lecture going on four years - Traditional to Modern. Because she focuses on a designing modern-ish quilts using traditional blocks her approach appeals to a wide range of quilters. She's designed with graph paper and pencil but is equally adept at Electric Quilt. With this knowledge base she teaches and encourages quilters who, 1) can be intimidated by computer designing, and 2) simply lack the confidence to make a quilt that isn't laid out step-by-step with the exact fabric suggested.

Complete Starter Guide to Quilt Design Using EQ Software expands a makers skills set and creativity. It teaches quilters of all levels how to spice up an existing pattern or design one completely on their own. They'll learn how to choose the fabric that bests suit their design; which blocks to twist and turn for different looks; how to offset and build upon a single block; how to choose fabrics and blocks for an ombre effect; how to merge blocks into a border; and even how to determine how much fabric a particular design requires. While EQ does provide a yardage list, depending on how the blocks are cut and assembled, it's not always accurate.
