Beverley Brewer was born in Ontario, Canada. Her home was in Toronto until she moved to Muskoka to live in the family cottage.Bev graduated from the University of Toronto with the notion of becoming a teacher or a social worker. Her introduction to life skills teaching methodology and group work facilitation set the stage for her life's work. At Seneca Polytechnic she supported adults in job readiness and academic upgrading. Eight years later she took a position in the social service worker diploma program. In year fourteen of her teaching life, Bev completed an Adult Education degree at Brock University and then later had the privilege of teaching in the program. With a whetted appetite for deep learning she enrolled in the department of Curriculum Development at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto and acquired a Master of Education degree. An introduction to narrative inquiry and personal experience research methods incited an in-depth study of teaching and learning on the community college landscape. In 2002, Bev attained her PhD. When she taught in the college's Teacher Development program, she mentored faculty members in curriculum development. She retired in her thirty-sixth year of teaching and learning on the community college landscape. Bev writes fiction and memoir. In the Fall of 2023, Blue Denim Press published her memoir, Dance into the Light. Her long-time project, What No One Knew, will be published in the Fall of 2026. When Bev's not writing, she's gardening, in a kayak or on snowshoes somewhere on the lake. She's happy to have found like-minded friends who like to hike and play pickle ball all year round. Never without a dog, Bev has Bailey, her golden retriever.
