Sara always wonders "What if this? What if that?" At first neither parent can see beyond Sara's dreamy facade. Caught up in their own struggles in Depression-era Winnipeg, Sara's parents can't always stop to answer her. Sara spins her questions into an imaginary tale-what if I were Sara the Brave saving the village? Sara's courage and resourcefulness come to the rescue in real life as well as in her tales when she helps both her mother and father out of difficult situations.
